This design has been around for many years and it represents perhaps the simplest and easiest homebrew 2M vertical you can make. This one uses some translucent 300 ribbon feeder which came with an FM antenna for a tuner bought 35 years ago.
Construction is simple:
1. Cut a length of 300 ribbon feeder about 60 inches (1524mm) long.
2. Strip enough insulation off the wire to short both ends, solder the wires together making sure the overall length is 59 inches (1499mm.)
3. Cut a 1 inch (25.4mm) piece out of one side 18 inches (457mm) from the bottom of one side.
4. For the feed point remove insulation from both sides 2.5 inches (63.5mm) up from the bottom.
5. Solder a thin piece of coax to the feed point with the braid going to the side with the wire cut out and the centre going to the other side. I used some miniature coax connected to a BNC socket to connect the longer coax feed.
6. Connect to transceiver via an SWR meter and test SWR. Mine was 1.1:1 after one small adjustment.
If you use the black 300 ohm feeder the dimentions might change i.e. overall length around 53 inches (1346mm) with the cut out at 16 inches (406mm) from the bottom.
If you plan to mount outside use platic water pipe for protection from the elements and seal all the joints.
